Youth Group

The Youth group is an opportunity for children to improve their sailing in a safe and fun environment under the tuition of qualified RYA Dinghy Instructors. We will be responsible for them on the water but you are responsible for them off the water. Therefore, a responsible adult needs to remain on site at all times. The responsible adult also is required to get the boats off the racks and back away at the end of the session.

We will facilitate sessions for whatever abilities we have from complete beginners to people looking to join the youth racing circuit.

Dates – 2025

Every Friday from 30th May until August 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 so arrival from 5:15.

Weather permitting the BBQ will be on so bring something along to throw on it and join us for a social after the sailing.

Costs

Free for club members (Junior membership is about £35 for the year) or £10 per sessions payable in cash please. The first session is free so you know you like it before you commit.

Booking

Not essential, just turn up. Communication for the youth group is done via WhatsApp and we encourage people to give us advanced notice if they are attending so we can run a better session. If you would like to be added to the WhatsApp group email the training group via the button.

Responsible Adult Requirements

The Youth group has always required a responsible adult to stay on the club premises to assist their child to get their boat ready and pack away. You are not expected to know where stuff is or how to rig a boat, however, we do need help lifting and carrying.

We are hoping we can encourage you to learn how to rig and launch as the year progresses so you can support your children, allowing the instructors to maximise their time teaching sailing.
