A surprise visitor to the AGM was Peter Burrows, who chairs the local branch of the RNLI. The RNLI event, held recently at the Club, raised a total of £457-90 in donations and the sale of goods. Peter stated that he was representing the Chief Executive of the RNLI – Mark Bowie and noted that it was 25 years since Bryan Martyn presented a certificate to SBSC on behalf of the RNLI. Peter described a conversation with the team from Lyme Regis, who came with an RNLI shop and who helped with the prize giving for the event. Apparently, they commented that Sutton Bingham was “one of the friendliest, liveliest, most cheerful and active clubs that they have been to”. They said that they had really enjoyed their visit and asked Peter to compliment the members who were present on that day. Peter also complimented the Club on 50 years of fund raising on behalf of the RNLI. Finally, Peter presented a certificate to the Club along with his thanks for all that SBSC has done for the RNLI over the last 50 years.
