Dear Member
It has been a while since I last contacted you about progress by the Club to increase sailing
opportunities as the restrictions to control the spread of Covid‐19 are eased, and the guidance is
further developed.
The Saturday sailing sessions have been well supported and the summer youth courses are now up
and running, but with carefully planned and imaginative anti‐virus measures. However, there are
other needs to be met, including more sailing days and a desire to resume racing, as other clubs are
already doing. We also need to encourage cadets who have completed our courses to get on the
water and improve their skills,
I can assure you that a small number of people are working incredibly hard to expand the
opportunities to sail, including on both weekend days. There are challenges, in particular getting
enough members to volunteer to cover the three OOD duties currently required for each session.
Dutyman is now again taking commitments and, if eligible, you are urged to go on‐line and
volunteer.
I expect to issue a further, more detailed, update very soon, so keep an eye out for more
information. Suggestions are welcome, especially if accompanied by offers of help!
Meanwhile, stay alert and stay safe.
