Training Centre closing down for the year

After another great season of sailing, we are now closed until next year.  We will be publishing our Youth and Adult course dates and other sailing opportunities to coincide with the membership renewal applications that go out after Christmas.

We hope that all of you who sailed with us in 2018 will rejoin next year to get as much out of your membership as possible.

Get Afloat Day

The Get Afloat Day scheduled for Saturday, 6th October has been CANCELLED.  This is partly because of continuing concerns over the water level at the reservoir after this long hot – and dry – summer.  Much as we have enjoyed this long spell of weather, we now need lots of rain.

Adult sailing courses

That’s it for this year with a huge thank you to all our Instructors and all of you who booked on Courses.

We’ve had another really successful season but I’m afraid you will have to wait until next year to Learn how to Sail – or improve your sailing skills – at Sutton Bingham Sailing Club.  This website will be updated early next year with the course dates and all the information you need about the courses and how to book.  Everyone who completed a course is now a member and you should have received our new Membership Pack containing a Welcome letter, a copy of the latest Club Newsletter, a car park sticker and membership card..  We hope you will rejoin next year for lots more sailing.

Youth summer holiday courses

We’ve had amazing support again this year from all you parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles, but that’s it for this year.  No more Youth Courses and the fortnightly Youth Group has finished – back to school !

If you’ve been unlucky this summer, we will be doing the same next year, and this website will be updated after Christmas with the new dates.  Having completed one of our courses, your children are now members of the Club and are entitled to hire boats and enjoy the facilities at the Club.  We hope you will rejoin next year so they can continue sailing and improve their skills.

Try Sailing For Free

Push The Boat Out – Saturday 26th May 2018

Your chance to give it a go!

Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and active or find something you can enjoy together with the family? If the answer is yes, we invite you and your family to come to our club to try sailing for FREE on Saturday 26th, 10am-5pm.

Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, RYA Push the Boat Out is the perfect time to give it a go.

Sailing can be as physical or as relaxing as you want to make it, you can sail with others or on your own, do it competitively or potter about and just enjoy the gentle escape of being outside in the elements.

On our Push The Boat Out Day you will be able to:

  • Have a “taster sail *”  (30-40 minutes) with one of our experienced club members

  • Find out about junior and adult sailing courses

  • Take part in onshore sailing demonstrations with our junior members

  • Book to enjoy more time on the water with our “Get Afloat Days”

  • Find out everything you need to know about taking to the water and getting involved in our fabulous sport.

  • Purchase refreshments including hot dogs, bacon rolls, tea and coffee etc. from the clubhouse galley

Last year more than 250 adults and children took to the water on our Push The Boat Out day. Whilst you’re welcome to just turn up on the day, we strongly recommend that you book your FREE taster sail in advance.

To book your FREE taster sail simply email your full name(s), contact telephone number and preference for a morning or afternoon time slot to ptbo@suttonbinghamsc.net

We will then email back the time for your taster sail and information to help you make the most of the experience.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 26th May.

Site Update

As you may be aware just by visting the site, it has a bit of a facelift. This was due to some of the functionality not working. However you may also notice that the events menu is not working properly at this time. Please bear with me while I get it fixed.

Get Afloat Day Saturday 21st April 2018

Our popular GET AFLOAT DAYS start again next Saturday.  These are mainly intended for people who can sail, might have got a bit rusty over the winter or just need to get out and practice.  There will be friendly and experienced Club members there ready to help you rig, launch and get Afloat.  If you haven’t got your own boat, the Club boats will be available for you to hire.

If you want to come please let us know at training@suttonbinghamsc.net
