Sutton Bingham SC is a non-profit organisation, founded with the purpose of encouraging as many of its members to enjoy the sport of sailing as possible. To this end, if you want to sail with us, you need to become a member. We believe that we’ve got the cheapest membership costs in the area, with lots of concessions. The total cost for an adult member to sail here, including boat storage for the year is £185.
Sutton Bingham SC also offers a winter membership for members of other clubs to enjoy sailing over the winter months when their own clubs may not. Ideal for sea based club sailors who want to keep sailing.
Membership applications and payments are made online using WebCollect.
FAQ’s for using WebCollect
What is WebCollect?
WebCollect is a web-based system for the management of the Club's membership. It allows for online management of your membership subscription to the Club. It will also minimize the workload on the membership secretary compared to the old system of databases and pens, etc. If you want to know more please visit their website at WebCollect.org.uk
Do I have to use WebCollect?
To reduce costs, we would really like members to use WebCollect wherever possible, but we recognise that not everyone likes to use the Internet for online payments, so the system has also been configured to enable membership applications and renewals to optionally be processed using forms sent through the post. Please contact our Membership Secretary.
How do I start using WebCollect?
New members - You will need to register with WebCollect unless you already have an account with WebCollect in which case you can continue to use this. WebCollect is used to manage your personal details and allows you to purchase subscriptions with the Club via their system.
Existing members - you will have an account set up and details will have been emailed to the address held by the membership secretary. If this address is incorrect and/or you have not recieved the email, please contact the membership secretary to resolve.
Are my details safe when using WebCollect?
Yes. All personal details are protected in much the same way as for any other Internet retailer. The following is an extract from the WebCollect site."All personal, including any card, details are fully encrypted using 256 bit SSL encryption. We are fully compliant with Payment Card Industry standards (PCI DSS) and are a registered Data Controller under the Data Protection Act. We will not share your members' information with any third parties, except for the limited purpose of processing payments. We will not contact your members for marketing purposes, ours or anyone else's".
Payments are not made using their services, you will pay either by BACS transfer or by a cheque.
What Payment methods are available?
At present we are takign payments via BACS bank transfers and also cheques made payable to the club. We would prefer BACS to be used wherever possible please as this minimises the amount of work that is required to process all the memberships.
We are not currently using PayPal or Credit/debit card payments due to the associated costs with these, but in the future we may offer this functionality.

Register as a new user
- Go to the WebCollect Sutton Bingham portal.
- Click on the "Sign in or Signup!" link in the top right corner of the page - its small so look carefully.

- Fill in your details in the "Sign Up" boxes that appear on the right hand side - note you are only filling in details for yourself, not for family members or others in your care at this point.
What do I do next?
Once you have registered it will take you to your account home page on the SBSC portal. You will see you have no subscriptions at this point. You can fill in the membership form at this stage if you wish by clicking on the link on the right hand side, or you can leave it until checking-out.
Membership Form
As a volunteer based club, every member of the Club is required to volunteer for two or three duties such as providing safety boat cover for the sailors or staffing the galley on Sunday's. Don't worry, training will be provided for either. There is also the option for those that really do not wish to help the club out in this way to pay a yearly 'opt-out' fee, but we would rather you helped and did not choose this option if possible please.
Choose your membership/subscription
Back in the main portal home page you will need to choose what level of membership you require. Select the "Browse Membership Options" link top left and in the next window follow the instructions at the top of the page.
There are two tabs, one for the level of membership you are applying for and if required, one for the boat/s you wish to bring to the Club. Pick and choose the subscriptions as required. They will be added to your "basket" ready for checkout at the end of the process.
Checkout, payment & Joining
When you checkout it will ask you for your address details, please fill these out fully as any Club communications will be sent to these details.
On the next screen you will get the opportunity to fill in the details of any other family members if you have signed up for a family membership.
Next click on the proceed button and on the next screen fill in all the details of each family member.
You will then need to fill in the membership form if you did not do it earlier in the application phase and make sure you read the delaration as ticking the box commits you to adhering to the Club rules. Click save to move onto payment.
Although you will have to 'purchase' the membership you would like, you will not be charged anything at this point, your application will be reviewed by the membership secretary for approval. Once approved you will receive an email welcoming you to the club and also providing the details on how to make your payment.
I am a parent/carer but don't want to join myself
For this you still need to register with WebCollect as you are the responsible person. Please sign up with your email address.
When you get to the stage of choosing the membership, pick as many junior membership subscriptions you require and pick the number of boat subscriptions, etc, should you require them.
Check-out - the 'Add Family Members' window will be next and at this point you will add the details of the child/ren that are joining. Make sure you assign a junior membership to each child in the bottom left corner before proceeding. In the next window you can fill in the address details of each child.
In the next window please enter all the relevant details for each child before finally checking out.
Existing Members
Where is my logon?
If you do not have an existing WebCollect account the Club has set you up one. You should have received an email with all the details from the membership secretary but it may be they have the incorrect email address for you. Please email them to find out. They will be able to send you a link which will allow you to set your own password for your WebCollect account.
How do I find my SBSC membership options?
If you are logging into WebCollect through the Club portal then you only have to login to and you will be directed to the correct page with all the options. If you have an existing WebCollect account and login in through the main website then you will get all of your current club organisations on your home page. Select the Club one and you will be directed to the correct page.
Note : you must click on the "my SUTTONBINGHAMSC" link to access the subscriptions. If you click on the Club logo you will be directed to the portal home page. You can still access the subsciptions from here but its another click. If you do land on the Club portal home page you will be able to purchase training and social event tickets (when available).
Renewals
When its time to renew your yearly subscriptions you can navigate to them from the portal homepage and clicking on the link 'Manage/renew my subscriptions'.
In the enxt window you can pick individual subscriptions or select all of them for a complete renewal. By clicking on the renewal button will add them to the basket and you can then check-out. The next window will allow you to confirm your details before proceeding to payment.
If you wish to add another subscription, a second boat for example, click on the 'Buy a different subscription' link adjacent to the 'Renew all' button. You can then add extras as required.
The last stage of checking-out will be to confirm the boat details if you have one.
As part of joining the club, you agree to help run it and make the club a success. Part of this means manning the rescue boats or the galley. Should you not wish to help in this way you can pay the optional opt-out fee which is £100 per year.
When you initially join there is an additional fee required for administration costs of £25
